Favorite eats near the racecourse:

First off, a warning: the default pasta to cheese ratio at every restaurant I went to in Tennessee was 50:50.  Just wanted to let you know in case that's not what you're into.

Panera Bread, 371 S. Illinois Ave.
This was the best place I found for fresh-ish food.  Otherwise I think the grocery stores are going to be your best bet.

Big Ed's Pizza, 101 Broadway Ave.
Big Ed's has been around FOREVER, or close to it, because their pizza is really really good.  Their crust is exceptional.  "Legendary" is the word I keep seeing in all its reviews.
