Eating tips:

"Casa de mi hermano Doug"
Home cooked meal, bottle of beer and a bowl of ice cream - Robert.

Weaver's Way
We like to buy are groceries at the local co-op called Weaver's Way. Everything there is organic and locally grown or made. I especially like the crackers and cheese and the great selection of lunch meats.

Jim's Steaks
Philadelphia is home of the Cheese Steak. This is rep Robert's favorite. "They are absolutely the best in town!!!"

Pat's, King of Steaks, 1237 E Passyunk Ave
Rep Tari says "you can't go to Philly without a cheese steak sandwich from Pat's." They are open 24 hours!

Zorba's Taverna, 2230 Fairmount Ave
Great Greek restaurant. Even has cute old Greek men outside drinking coffee. Good family fun after the race and excellent food.

To play and see:

Rocky Statue
Down the street from Boathouse Row. Get your photo taken in front of the statue after you have won your race!

Natonal Historic Sites
US Mint, and the Liberty Bell are all close to the racecourse (we're talking a 5-10 minute drive from the river); early US history buildings are a must if you have an extra day to spend.

Ride the Ducks!

Rodin Museum
Check out The Thinker, the Gates of Hell, and other amazing works of art. Be aware that the museum is closed on Mondays.

Big Bus Tour
Tari took the Big Bus Tour and saw a ton in a short time. She had a great guide that was hilarious and knew a great scoop on everything. A little tidbit from the ride: If a statue of a person on a horse has both of the horse's front legs in the air, then the person died in battle. If the horse had one front leg in the air, the person died because of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

Hot Tips:

  • ALWAYS BRING UMBRELLAS! You never know what the weather is going to do.
  • Bring lots of water! There is a huge river, but I don't recommend drinking from it, and water fountains are few and far between.

Racing is great!
