Favorite eats near the racecourse:
Voula's Offshore Cafe, 658 Northeast Northlake Way
This local favorite was recently featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives."  Big huge portions.  Please get one of their Hobos (various creative combinations of eggs, meat, hashbrowns, and cheese), and/or their super thick yummy pancakes.  Also a known favorite of Dave Mathews and Eddie Vedder... so keep your eyes out.

Le Fournil, 3230 Eastlake Avenue East
In the words of a very excited Steve: "Sweet breakfast special and a sweet lunch special.  They have home made bread- they bake it fresh... EVERYDAY!  You can't go wrong.  Oh yeah, and Cafe Umbria coffee served with a smile."  As Steve says, "the french bakery" as it's known by local rowers, is a lovely little spot for fresh pastries and sandwiches.

Stop by JL's only retail store.  It's about a 5 minute drive from the course in Fremont and well worth a visit.  Find JL items here you can't find anywhere else!

The Fremont Troll
You gotta check this out.  I don't want to give it away too much, but it's a huge sculpture under a bridge on the corner of N 36th St. and, no joke, Troll Ave. 

Ballard Locks
Locks are cool regardless of when you go see them.  Early fall offers additional entertainment value: salmon jumping around like crazy and the occasional sea lion enjoying an all you can eat buffet.
